The Church of the Incarnation and The Incarnation Foundation have created The Bishop Garrett Society to recognize those persons who have made planned gifts to our parish.
The early story of the Church of the Incarnation is in great part the history and ministry of Bishop Alexander Charles Garrett who arrived in Dallas on December 31, 1874. As Bishop Garrett settled into his new missionary district, his theme for all his work was to make Christ known, not only as the Incarnate Son of God, but also as the Son of Man. With his foresight and financial gift of $350 to purchase a lot for the chapel, the Church of the Incarnation was born.
You become a member of The Bishop Garrett Society by:
- Leaving a bequest to Church of the Incarnation or to The Incarnation Foundation in your will or living trust;
- Designating the parish as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or retirement plan; or
- Establishing a planned gift for the parish such as a charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust or retained life estate contract.
The Incarnation Foundation can provide you with information on how to appropriately designate your gift based on the gift vehicle you choose. The Incarnation Foundation was established in 1988 by the Church of the Incarnation to manage a special pool of resources given by past and present parishioners through their wills or planned gifts. Please contact the Foundation (email) or (214) 521-5101. If you have included the Church of the Incarnation or The Incarnation Foundation in your will or other estate plan, please also let us know.
Like Bishop Garrett, there are many faithful parishioners, past and present, who have acknowledged their gratefulness to God and their love of the parish by making gifts from their accumulated assets to the Church during their lifetimes or at their deaths.
Being a member of The Bishop Garrett Society offers a powerful statement of your life as a steward of God’s kingdom and your desire to leave a legacy that honors Him. Your membership also provides a poignant example for those who will follow in your footsteps.
