Meals on Wheels

Visiting Nurses Association’s Meals on Wheels program provides a nutritious, hot, home-delivered, mid-day meal to Dallas County residents who are unable to provide or prepare their own meals due to illness, advanced age, or disability. These meals are prepared in VNA’s Beatrice M. Haggerty Kitchen with the support of generous donors, along with partnerships with the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, and the State of Texas Department of Agriculture. Nearly 4,000 volunteers deliver the meals to the homes of Meals on Wheels clients. To learn more about their services visit

Volunteers pick up food coolers at a designated location and deliver hot meals to home bound or persons who cannot cook for themselves. The hot meal is delivered to the person’s door and volunteers serve as a check in to make sure that person is okay.
