Before moving to Dallas in 2008, he served for fifteen years as the Bishop of Saskatchewan, Canada. At the time of his consecration 1993, Bishop Burton was the youngest Anglican Bishop in the world and among the youngest since the Reformation.
He was educated at the University of Toronto; Dalhousie University; and Oxford University.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Elliott House of Studies, an institution devoted to the training of clergy and based in Savannah, and on the Board of Visitors of Ralston College.
He has been married to Anna Burton for more than 25 years. They have two children.
