
Rt. Rev. James M. Stanton

James M. Stanton was consecrated the 6th Bishop of Dallas on Mar 6, 1993, at the Meyerson Music Hall in Dallas. He had served Churches in Southern and Central California, and Iowa before becoming the Rector of St. Mark’s Church in Glendale, Ca. He is a graduate of Chapman University in Orange, and holds the D.Min. degree from Southern California School of Theology in Claremont, both in California. He has received honorary degrees (D.D.) from Sewanee, Nashotah House, and Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Bishop Stanton retired from his position in his 21st year, and has since served various congregations as they searched for a new rector. He married Diane Hanson in 1968. She did extraordinary ministry in Uganda over their years in Dallas. She passed from this life in June 2021. Bishop Stanton’s daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Jeffrey Hargrave, were married at Incarnation, and together with their children William, Weston and Evellyn, have been active members ever since. The Bishop is pleased to be able to serve to support the pastoral care of the Church of the Incarnation.
