Church in the City

SEEK THE WELFARE OF THE CITY WHERE I HAVE SENT YOU INTO EXILE, AND PRAY TO THE LORD ON ITS BEHALF; FOR IN ITS WELFARE YOU WILL HAVE WELFARE.

Jeremiah 29:7

WHAT IS CHURCH IN THE CITY?

Incarnation will continue to become the great church God has called us to be when we follow even more closely the words of Jeremiah: We are to seek the welfare of the city in which we are planted.

These instructions were merely a continuation of one of the primary purposes God has always had for his people: God’s people are to not exist merely for themselves, but for the sake of others. God’s people—the Church—exist in large part for the sake of those who are not our members.

June 2017

In Sunday morning sermons, in a special Adult Sunday School Class, through Vacation Bible School for our kids, at Theology Live on Monday nights, and through a month-long art exhibit, we explored why God has us in Dallas, and what it meant for us to work for our city’s welfare.

January 2018

We explore opportunities to fulfill needs among our neighbors.

WHAT IS THEOLOGY LIVE?

Theology Live is an annual event where hot theological topics are presented by guest speakers in the comfort of the beer garden.

The event begins with short discourse by the speaker on the scheduled topic, followed by a short break to replenish pints and bites. We then move to a round of Q&A, including a few short remarks and raffles for door prizes provided by The Ginger Man and other sponsors.
