Why Growth Groups?

Every other week, parishioners get together for food, fellowship, prayer, and spiritually focused study that is designed to help us grow more mature in our faith and relationship with God. Groups are open to everyone of any age and meet on various days of the week.

Summer Status

Adult Growth Groups are in recess for the summer. They will resume meeting again in the fall on the week of September 10, 2017.

Mondays

Hanson

Location: Inwood/Mockingbird | Time: 6:30 pm on Monday

This community for anyone in or around their 30s, married or single, who desire to learn about Jesus through out all of God’s Word. We will meet on Monday’s at 6:30 PM at the Hanson’s home near Inwood and Mockingbird. Dinner and fellowship for the first half and then a study over the Gospel of Mark.

Parsons-Overland

Location: M-Streets | Time: 7:30 pm every other Monday

Our growth group is open to all ages, with members from the 20s to the 50s, married & single. The hosts have a preschooler, so you must not mind a little clutter and the occasional misplaced toy. Friendly to all, the Parsons-Overland Group is a warm and welcoming collection of Christians who meet for fellowship, worship, study and prayer in a laid-back and casual environment. We will provide drinks, but feel free to bring a dessert or snack to share or your dinner if you are running straight from work. Come prepared to discuss, explore, share and grow with the rest of the group in a nurturing environment. We will study Searching Issues by Nicky Gumbel.

Souza

Location: M-Streets / Uptown | Time: 7 pm every other Monday

Our group is open to everyone for fellowship, worship, study and prayer in a laid-back, informal setting. We begin each meeting with a casual dinner and conversation, followed by thoughtful discussion on Simply Christian, by N.T. Wright and conclude with prayer. We invite you to join us and become a part of our community! Come prepared to discuss, explore, share and grow with the rest of the group in a friendly environment.

Tuesdays

Gasperetti

Location: The Flat, Church of the Incarnation | Time: 6:30 pm every other Tuesday

Geared toward singles and couples in their mid to late career stage or retired, our group focuses upon getting to know one another as people with varying perspectives on life and religion, as we study what it means to be a follower of Christ in the modern world. We begin with a social time with light snacks and beverages (once our group has had an opportunity to have its initial/introductory meeting, we will seek a consensus as to whether or not we should make arrangements for more substantial meals), then transition into a time of discussion about the assigned reading and study questions. This fall we will study Encounters with God — The Epistles of James, a small group study guide compiled by Henry Blackaby, et al. We finish the evening with prayer.

Lloret

Location: Kessler Park | Time: 6:30 pm every other Tuesday

Led by Virginia and Mark Lloret and hosted by Patti and John Monger, our group is open to singles and couples, primarily, in their 40s and 50s although all are welcome. Join us for dinner, study, prayer and fellowship. This fall we are studying the Gospel of Matthew, following the commentary and study guide The Gospel According to Matthew by commentary author Barbara E. Reid, O.P. and study guide authors Little Rock Scripture Study staff.

Wednesdays

Barnett-Boyett

Location: Lakewood / Preston Hollow | Time: 6:30 pm every other Wednesday

Led by Susan and Bill Barnett and Kathy and David Boyett, this group consists primarily of adults in their 40s to 60s. We begin each meeting with a relaxed dinner and conversation, followed by a thoughtful discussion from selected readings and conclude with prayer. We will study the Confessions of a Bishop: a Guide to Augustine’s Confessions. St. Augustine of Hippo is viewed as one of the most influential persons in the history of the church.

Burgher

Location: Kessler Park | Time: 7 pm every other Wednesday

If you would like to explore and deepen your Christian faith while living in the American culture, this group is for you. Our group will begin with dinner, a study of N.T. Wright’s Ephesians For Everyone and, then, discussion. We will end our time with prayer requests and lifting each other up in prayer.

Evans

Location: Welcome Center, Church of the Incarnation | Time: 7 pm every other Wednesday

Open to everyone. Join us for snacks and fellowship, followed by Scripture study with lively discussion. We will end our time with sharing, worship, and lifting each other up in prayer. This semester the group will study Encounters with God – The Epistles of James by Blackaby.

Fahrenbrook

Location: Kessler | Time: 7:30 pm every other Wednesday

Geared, primarily, toward 20s and 30s young professionals, our group of singles and couples focuses on developing authentic relationships with one another as we study what it means to be a follower of Christ in the modern world. We begin with dinner and wine and then move into a time of study and discussion of the assigned reading. We finish with prayer requests and evening prayer. This fall we will study The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning.

Kincaid

Location: Highland Park | Time: 7:30 pm every other Wednesday

This group, led by Barbara and Sam Kincaid, consists primarily of adults in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Each meeting starts with fellowship and desert followed by discussion of the reading. It concludes with a brief time of prayer and more fellowship.

Skorburg

Location: Lovers / Tollway | Time: 6:30 pm every other Wednesday

This group consists primarily of single and married adults in their late 20s and 30s. We begin each meeting with a relaxed dinner and conversation, followed by a thoughtful discussion from selected readings and conclude with prayer. This fall we are studying parables. We invite you to join us and become a part of our community!

Our group is geared, primarily, toward married couples in their mid-20s and 30s, with or without children. We begin with dinner and wine and then move into a time of study and discussion of the assigned reading. We finish with prayer requests and evening prayer.

Thursdays

Cedar Hill

Location: Cedar Hill | Time: 5 pm every other Thursday

Our group consists, generally, of folks who are 55+ and mostly live south of the Trinity River (Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Lancaster, Granbury) but we are open to all. This semester we will study Chittister’s The Rule of Benedict and CS Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters. We will end our time with Compline and prayer requests and lifting each other up in prayer.

Location: Welcome Center, Church of the Incarnation | Time: 7 pm every other Thursday

This new group consists primarily of single and married adults in their early to late 20s. We begin each meeting with a time for fellowship and conversation, followed by a discussion on the selected reading from Devotional Classics: Selected Readings for Individuals & Groups, Edited By Richard J. Foster. We end each meeting with prayer requests.

Our group welcomes all ages and stages. Please join us for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. This semester we will study the “Letter to the Hebrews”.
