Cross-Cultural Workers in the Field
Global
The Covey’s serve the Eurasia area based from Malaga, Spain.
Ellie grew up in Church of The Incarnation. Over many years Incarnation has played a significant role in the Lord’s movement in her life and helped her follow the Lord’s leading to where she finds herself today! Ellie helps facilitate and lead the Church of the Incarnation’s pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago. This is a trip and a path that is near to her ministry and her heart to walk alongside people’s journeys.
In her Wycliffe role, Ellie is the Orientation Coordinator for the Mediterranean region. This includes assisting new members in: language school, housing, cultural learning, and other parts of the “moving overseas” process. She mentors and provides care for the new members from support raising through the first year of their assignment. She also partners with Sentwell.org an organization dedicated to caring for workers throughout this region. Through Sentwell she provides Spiritual Direction, leads retreats and offers logistical support for short term intensive care.
Dr. James Covey, PhD, LPC-S, grew up in the DFW area, but he and Ellie met while serving in Kenya. He serves as a Counselor for Wycliffe members and their families in the Eurasia region and is a member of the Wylffe Board of Directors. He provides therapeutic counseling to individuals, couples, and families. This is done through in-person visits, video calls, and traveling to conferences, retreats, or to people in need. He also leads the Wellbeing services team of 18 in providing care, developing strategy, and serving the 1200 staff in EurAsia. He continues to be involved in the Healing the Wounds of Trauma training, hosts a Podcast for cross-cultural workers, and writes and speaks on issues related to mental health and the global Church. He also partners with Sentwell in Spain, providing counseling, coaching, and care to people in any organization living in high-risk areas with limited access to resources.
The Church of the Incarnation has financially supported the Covey’s for several years. Another way our parish can support them is through prayer. Here are some specific prayers:
- They minister to people who have experienced great traumas, pray for their own nourishment so they can serve from places of abundance.
- Prayer for resilience and rest as they travel and work remotely away from Spain for the first half of 2026.
- The need for increased pledges for financial support of $300 a month.
