Owen Phillip Reid is the Associate Director of Music and Organist. He comes to Incarnation from St. Paul's Parish and Choir School in Cambridge, MA, where he served as the Associate and later Interim Director of Music at the nation's only all-boys Catholic choir school. He led the renowned choir in daily services and rehearsals, as well as their two-week tour to Italy which included singing Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and conducting a joint concert with the boys of the Sistine Chapel choir. Previously, he was the Lloyd Cast Organ Fellow at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, New York, which is home to the oldest Men and Boys choir in the United States.
Owen received the Bachelor of Music and Musical Arts Degree in Organ Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, studying repertoire with Nathan Laube and improvisation with Edoardo Bellotti. He also earned Master of Music degrees from The University of Cambridge (St. John's College) and Southern Methodist University, where he studied organ performance with Stefan Engels. While at Cambridge, Owen was the Organ Scholar at St. Catherine's College, working with the mixed-voice college choir as well as the girls' choir. He played for all Evensong and Eucharists and accompanied the choirs on tour to Northern Italy and Singapore. Owen has performed recitals across the United States and England and is the first-place winner of the 2020 William Hall competition in San Antonio. He is also active as a composer and arranger, his St. Catharine's Evening Service having been premiered at Incarnation in October 2020.
