Frequently Asked Questions
How is a planned gift different from my annual stewardship commitment?
A gift to the Foundation does not replace or conflict with annual giving to the church. Your annual stewardship commitment supports current operational needs and funds the annual budget. Your gift to the Foundation provides future financial resources for Church of the Incarnation.
Should I leave separate planned gifts to the Foundation and to the Church?
All planned gifts to the Foundation ultimately support Incarnation, so there is no need to leave a separate planned gift to the church. Planned gifts made to the church are transferred to the Foundation so they can be strategically invested and carefully managed to sustain the mission and ministries of the church for future generations.
Is The Incarnation Foundation a tax-exempt organization?
Yes, The Incarnation Foundation is a separately chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Texas. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors.
What is the Legal Name and Federal tax identification number for the Foundation?
Legal Name: The Incarnation Foundation
The federal tax identification number is: 75-222201
How do I request a copy of the Foundation’s 990?
Our most current 990 is available online (add link) or you may request a copy by contacting us at
Will the Foundation serve as executor for an estate?
Due to potential liability and conflict of interest issues, the Foundation and/or COTI cannot serve as executor.
Will the Foundation determine the value of gifts of tangible personal property for a donor’s income tax deduction?
No, this is the donor’s responsibility. The IRS requires that donors of artwork and collectibles secure an independent appraisal of items to establish fair market value. The appraisal must be related to the gift, an insurance appraisal won’t suffice.
Does the Foundation need to know my bequest intentions?
We understand your bequest intentions are personal and that you may want to keep your plans confidential. If you have already included the Foundation in your estate plan, yet have not told us, we encourage you to let us know. Sharing your plans does not obligate you or your estate in any way; it simply helps us understand your intentions and make sure your gift is ultimately used as you intend. Notifying us of our plans also enables us to recognize you as a member of The Bishop Garrett Society and celebrate your eventual gift.
