Holy Week & Easter

Commemorate the Holiest Week of the Year

Walk with Jesus as he makes his way to the cross. Enter Jerusalem with Jesus on Palm Sunday. Remember the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday. Keep watch with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Behold Christ crucified on Good Friday. Be led from darkness into the light of the resurrection on Easter.

PALM SUNDAY
April 2, 2023

Palm Sunday, also known as the Sunday of Passion, marks the first day of Holy Week. During this day, people waved palm tree branches, welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem. To observe this day, our congregation will meet at Cole Park across the street from our main campus before the 9 am and 11:15 services to process to the church as we wave our own palm leaves in commemoration.

Paschal Triduum

What is the Triduum?

Paschal Triduum, Sacred Triduum, Easter Triduum, Holy Triduum, or the Three Holy Days are basically one continuous liturgy that begins with the institution of Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday and concludes with the most important liturgy of the year: the Great Vigil of Easter.

MAUNDY THURSDAY
April 6, 2023

Join us as the Sacred Triduum begins with the liturgy for Maundy Thursday, during which we remember the joy of the institution of the Eucharist, the love and service which Jesus lived and taught, the agony in the garden of Gethsemene, and the betrayal leading to the crucifixion. The bread and wine of the Last Supper are given new meaning by the Body broken and Blood poured out on the cross.

ALTAR OF REPOSE

ALTAR OF REPOSE

The Gospels of both Matthew and Mark recount how Jesus, after celebrating the Passover with his disciples and instituting the Eucharist, went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He took Peter, James, and John with him and three times asked them, “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Each time when he returned, he found them sleeping.

Watch Altar of Repose

All are invited to keep watch with the Blessed Sacrament at the altar of repose from the end of the Maundy Thursday service until the morning of Good Friday. Sign up to participate in one-hour increments for this unique opportunity to pray with Jesus and enter even more deeply into the mystery of Jesus’ love and passion.

GOOD FRIDAY
April 7, 2023

Join us for the Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday. On this day we remember the Lord of Life rejected, mocked, scourged, and put to death on the cross. As we read the Passion and pray the Solemn Collects, we remember that it is our own sins that caused Christ's suffering and agony, as he took all sin upon himself, in obedience to his Father's will. By the cross, we are redeemed, set free from bondage to sin and death. The cross is a sign of God's never-ending love for us, and it is a sign of life, in the midst of death.
