Announcing Our Rector Discernment Committee

    Oct 2, 2026

    As we navigate this momentous season in the life of our parish, we are writing to share an important milestone in our journey toward calling our next Rector. Following prayerful deliberation and consideration, the Vestry is pleased to officially announce the formation of the Rector Discernment Committee (RDC).

    We are deeply grateful to everyone who offered their names for consideration. The willingness to serve is a real reflection of your commitment to Church of the Incarnation and the future of the parish.

    The RDC is being led by Lisa Longino, Chair, and Sarah James, Vice Chair.

    This dedicated group of parishioners has answered the call to represent our community and guide us through the process of seeking the next leader God is calling to shepherd us.

    In the coming weeks, the committee will begin with a training retreat with Consultant Father Ron Clingenpeel to learn about best practices, discernment and organization. Then the committee will start meeting regularly to establish their timeline, survey the parish, update the parish profile and begin to receive names of potential candidates. The RDC is committed to keeping you informed and engaged at key points throughout this journey.

    Serving alongside the RDC will be the Discernment Prayer Committee led by Liz Schoenvogel and Sherryl Thomas. Father Rick Philputt will serve as the Chaplin. The prayers of our entire congregation are the foundation of this process. Shortly, you will hear about activities planned by the Discernment Prayer Committee.

    Additionally, a Rector Transition Committee is being established. This committee will focus on welcoming, supporting, and integrating our new Rector once called, helping with the practical, relational, and community-building work for a smooth and joyful transition for both the Rector and our parish family.

    Please pray for our RDC members, that they may be granted wisdom, patience, and clarity. Pray for our future Rector, whose heart is already being prepared by God to lead us. Pray for our entire parishand our Interim Rector, Bishop Greg Brewer, that we may remain united in love, faith, and hope during this momentous season.

    Almighty God, giver of every good gift:
    Look graciously on your Church,
    and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Rector for this parish,
    that we may receive a faithful pastor,
    who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
