12:15 PM Bach's Lunch
Music
Bach’s Lunch returns on October 3, 12:15 PM! This series features mid-day concerts on the first Tuesday of each month featuring the music of Johann Sebastian Bach played on period instruments.
“1685” features two of the Baroque Era’s greatest composers born in the same year, 1685: Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frederic Handel. Written for the Duke of Chandos, Handel’s anthem, O sing unto the Lord features orchestra, choir, and soloists singing robust and evocative texts from the Book of Psalms.
Bach wrote Cantata 22, Jesus nahm zu sich die Zwölfe, BWV 22 for his audition at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig in 1723. Bach masterfully portrays Jesus’ suffering and the doubt of the twelve disciples at his resurrection throughout the work with unique pairings of orchestra and soloists.
Bach’s Lunch concerts are free and open to all. Please consider a donation of $10.
