Jesus enters Jerusalem with palm branches and praises reminiscent of a conquering hero from Israel’s history and lore. Yet, he arrives not on a warhorse, but on a donkey. And he arrives not like a conquering hero, but humbly and meekly, like a lamb led to the slaughter. And then a few days later, this humble and meek Messiah is crucified. What’s going on?
