There really can be life after death, and things really can change — not because of you but because of God. In his appearing to Thomas after his resurrection, Christ came through locked doors — his movement didn't depend on Thomas's faith, rather the reality that brought faith found Thomas. The events of Good Friday and Easter Sunday were realities already; if it is true at all, it is true already.
